BOSTON — A 17-year veteran of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a female inmate at a Boston jail.
Lt. Thomas Healy, who works as a corrections officer at the Suffolk County House of Correction, turned himself in this morning.
The 41-year-old Healy, of Quincy, is charged with rape, indecent assault and battery and having sexual relations with a prisoner as a jail guard. Prosecutors said Healy groped and raped the woman in her cell on Nov. 12.
Healy was ordered held on $1,500 cash bail following his arraignment today in Roxbury District Court. He also must have no contact with the alleged victim and to surrender his guns.
A spokesman for the sheriff’s department declined to comment. Healy’s attorney, Stephen Pfaff, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
