NAPERVILLE, Ill. — A Sugar Grove man was ordered to perform community service and pay restitution for defecating and smearing feces in a Naperville jail cell after a bar fight.

Jason Reyes, 28, had faced charges of criminal damage to property and battery in the Christmas Eve incident. But after a plea deal last week, charges were reduced to a single misdemeanor count and one count of battery.

He must do 100 hours of community service and pay $295 to Naperville for cleanup costs.

Reyes’ trouble began shortly before 11 p.m. Dec. 23, when police responded to a call that a customer was fighting with two bar employee’s at Jilly’s, 103 S. Main St., in downtown Naperville, police said.

Reyes was arrested shortly afterward at Hugo’s Frog Bar, 55 S. Main St.

He was taken to the Naperville police station, where he was booked on two misdemeanor charges of simple battery.

While waiting for processing, Reyes defecated on the floor of the holding cell, then walked through the feces and smeared it on the window of the cell door, police said.
