Mass. gang member arraigned for spitting at CO

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — A reputed Monte Park gang member, who is incarcerated while awaiting trial for murder, was arraigned Wednesday for allegedly spitting at a correctional officer in the Dartmouth House of Corrections.

Wayne Miranda, 28, who was arrested in 2005 in the slaying of 25-year-old Christopher A. Barros, allegedly cursed at the officer and spat in his face.

Besides his murder case, which is still pending in New Bedford Superior Court, Mr. Miranda also has charges pending for allegedly sending an ex-girlfriend threatening letters and telephone messages from jail. He was arrested Sept. 28 and charged with witness intimidation, stalking and threatening to commit murder . . .Read Article
