HAGERSTOWN, Md. — An inmate at the medium-security Maryland Correctional Training Center was stabbed inside the institution and treated at a Hagerstown hospital, the state prison agency said.
Division of Correction spokesman Mark Vernarelli said the unidentified inmate was returned to the prison infirmary within hours of his treatment for a neck wound at Washington County Hospital.
Vernarelli had no other details on the incident.
It was the second time in a week that the agency has confirmed a stabbing inside a Western Maryland prison. On Saturday, an inmate at the nearby, medium-security Roxbury Correctional Institution was hospitalized after he was stabbed in the neck, allegedly by a fellow inmate.
