STEILACOOM, Wash. — The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the death of a 40-year-old inmate at McNeil Island Corrections Center.

The state Department of Corrections reported yesterday that Timothy Harry was found unconscious in his cell at 9:40 p.m. yesterday.

Firefighters and prison medical staff did CPR, and officials called for an airlift to nearby hospital. Harry was pronounced dead at 10:50 p.m.

The medical examiner’s office is investigating how Harry died. The corrections department says Harry’s death is not being investigated as a homicide.

Harry was convicted in 2005 of second-degree burglary in Clark County. He first came to McNeil Island on Jan. 27, 2006. The corrections department says he’d been in and out of Pierce County hospitals for medical needs several times since.

The corrections department says Harry returned from his most recent hospital stay to McNeil Island Corrections Center on Jan. 28.
