HARRISBURG, Pa. — Help from a jailhouse informant led state police to arrest a 19-year-old man accused of going on a six-month burglary spree around Liverpool that included a church, a market and the homes of several elderly people.

David Allen Arnold, of the 600 block of North Front Street in Liverpool, was charged last week with 11 counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, 10 counts of theft by unlawful taking, four counts of criminal conspiracy, three counts of criminal mischief and two counts of criminal trespass.

Arnold, who was charged July 9, was placed in the Perry County Prison on $100,000 bail by District Judge Donald “Pete” Howell.

On July 2, an inmate at the Perry County Prison provided investigators with the break they needed to arrest Arnold, court records state.

The inmate, who has been held on a simple assault charge since February, told state police that Arnold had a large amount of cash and asked him to go to Harrisburg to buy cocaine, records state.

The request came, according to court records, after a December burglary at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a home.

While the two were being held together in county prison, Arnold also allegedly told the inmate that he committed other Liverpool burglaries, records state. Arnold was being held at the time on another burglary charge.

In March, Arnold’s grandfather told state police he suspected his grandson of taking $200 from his wallet after using a house key to gain entry to the home, records state.
