VANCOUVER, Wash. — SWAT officers tossed a flash-bang device into a cell at the Clark County Jail and rushed in to capture an inmate holding his cellmate hostage.
The Clark County sheriff’s office says the cellmate suffered a superficial cut to his arm during Monday night’s hour-long standoff.
Officials say a 20-year-old inmate, Michael A. Jacobson, held a sharpened plastic utensil to the cellmate’s throat and made three demands: to speak to news reporters, to be moved to another cell and to have a fast-food restaurant meal delivered to him.
The Columbian reports that Jacobson had been extradited in June from Idaho and jailed in Vancouver to face a child rape charge.
