LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A new senate bill would provide support for inmates in order to ready them for re-entry into the community.

NBC News reports that bill 200 would give inmates life and job skills, substance abuse and work programs.

“This is an effort to concentrate more on getting offenders ready to go home,” said ACC director Dina Tyler. “And then have the support afterwards when they get back to the communities and live by you and me and everybody else.”

The bill has received the go ahead from the senate judiciary committee and will be heard by the full senate next.
