GREENVILLE, SC — A man who stole $22 from a cash register during an armed robbery will be spending the rest of his life in prison due to the state’s “two strikes” law.
WSPA reports that James Eddie Bailey, 50, was convicted and sentenced on Oct. 10 for robbing a Dollar General store where he took the manager hostage and held a knife to her throat.
A store employee managed to call 911 during the robbery, and police nabbed Bailey as he was leaving the store.
Baily had 11 prior convictions for armed robbery, triggering South Carolina’s “two strikes” law, according to prosecutors. The judge issued the mandatory life sentence.
