LOUISVILLE, KY — A mother pleaded not guilty after an off-duty Metro Corrections officer arrested her at a youth football game. The woman, as well as witnesses, claim the officer used excessive force.
Mindy Hernandez, 33, appeared in District Court Wednesday on disorderly conduct and resisting arrest charges. Hernandez was arrested Saturday at Valley High School during the final quarter of her son’s game.
The incident happens when Officer Roger Barth informed the crowd to clear the track for a homecoming parade. Witnesses said it appeared Barth felt like the parents weren’t moving fast enough. Others in the bleachers said Hernandez may have shouted obscenities.
Hernandez’s attorney said he wouldn’t acknowledge the accusations but said it’s clear Barth went too far.
