RIO DE JANEIRO — The remaining 10 corrections officers being held hostage by Brazil inmates have been freed.

BBC News reports that the standoff ended after two days when the inmates’ demands to be moved to other facilities were met.

The 28 inmates involved in the rebellion were transferred from Guarapuava to other detention centers in the region.

The BBC reports that jail riots are relatively common in Brazil, which has the world’s fourth largest prison population.

The most recent was in August, when inmates in Cascavel took two employees and several other inmates hostage. Two inmates were beheaded before the rioters’ demands were met.
