Falling tree strikes, kills retired Ill. correctional officer
Officials said no one was working on the tree; part of it sheared off and struck Jodi Housenga
FULTON, Ill. — A 54-year-old Fulton woman died Wednesday night when part of a large tree fell spontaneously and struck her, Sheriff John Booker said.
Jodi Housenga, a retired Illinois correctional officer, was pronounced dead at 8:51 p.m. at MercyOne Clinton Medical Center in Clinton, Iowa.
Housenga was struck around 7:40 p.m. at her home in the 17000 block of Diamond Road, the release said.
No one was working on the tree; part of it simply sheared off and struck her, Booker said.
