NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The state of Tennessee is calling for an independent review of its prison system.

WBIR reports that the American Correctional Association will conduct a review of prison practices and policies.

ACA will also review issues regarding the scheduling of correctional officers and how incidents are classified.

The review comes after two correctional officers were hospitalized for inmate attacks.

Scheduling of correctional officers has also been hotly contested; the current schedule has COs working six days on the job and three days off, only accumulating overtime pay after at least 171 hours.
