MINNEAPOLIS — A reported gunshot noise lead to the lockdown of the Stearns County Jail, until it was later discovered that the sound was actually just a blown bicycle tire.
Several employees reported hearing what sounded like a gunshot Saturday afternoon, according to CBS News. The law enforcement center (LEC), including the jail, was promptly locked down.
The lockdown was lifted after a search turned up nothing suspicious, though the source of the sound wasn’t discovered.
On Monday, the sheriff’s office learned that the sound was likely caused by a blown bicycle tire owned by a part time employee. The tire blew with enough force to bend the tire rim slightly. The bike was parked inside a hallway at the LEC.
