KANE COUNTY, Ill. — A Kane County inmate activated the jail’s automated sprinkler system, causing a small flood April 19, according to reports.
Inmate Percy M. Easter, 28, of Elgin flooded his cell and told officers he was standing on a table playing with the sprinkler head when it activated, “blowing him off the table,” according to the report.
The water soaked a light fixture and the cell’s two beds and discolored the walls, causing at least $1,000 in damage, the sheriff’s department reported.
Easter -- jailed since March on a domestic battery arrest -- was charged with criminal damage to government property and criminal damage to firefighting equipment.
