ALEXDANDRIA, La. — Cicero Patterson, a corrections officer at the U.S. Penitentiary in Pollock, has been convicted in connection with a scheme to scam the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
A federal jury returned a guilty verdict against Patterson on charges of wire fraud, theft of public money and making false statements in connection with the acquisition of a firearm.
U.S. Attorney Donald Washington says Patterson developed a scheme to defraud the federal agency after Hurricane Katrina.
Sentencing on the charges has been scheduled for November 19th. Patterson faces a maximum sentence of up to 35 years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.
