LINCOLN COUNTY, Neb. — A lieutenant with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is hoping for a match to complete a liver and kidney transplant.
The NP Telegraph reports that Lt. Jeff Hedgecock is the chief administrator for the county detention center and has been living with type 2 diabetes for some time.
Recently, he was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and decreased kidney function.
Chief Deputy Rollie Kramer says it’s difficult to understand how Hedgecock was diagnosed with liver disease, since Hedgecock “hasn’t touched a drop of liquor in his life.”
Hedgecock’s children and daughter-in-law set up a GoFundMe page for his medical expenses, and thus far have managed to raise $2,540.
The Sheriff’s Office is hosting a luncheon benefit on July 25 for Hedgecock and his family, which will include a mean served from noon to 3 p.m. for a free-will donation. A silent auction will also run from noon to 4 p.m.
Donations can be made through NebraskaLand National Bank via the Jeff Hedgecock Medical Benefit Account, or mailed to the sheriff’s office at 302 N. Jeffers St.
