MARION COUNTY, Iowa — An inmate kiosk for depositing money has been installed at the Marion County Jail, according to KNIA-KRLS.

The Cobra Cashier Kiosk allows friends and family to leave money on inmates’ commissary accounts, which frees up staff members for other tasks.

The kiosk accepts cash, check, credit card or money orders. In the near future, the kiosk will also likely allow the payment of inmate bonds.

It’s funded through revenue from the inmate accounts and there will be no cost to the county.

In addition to using the kiosk, people can also GovPayNet via the website or phone 1-800-604-7888 to make the same kind of payments.
