ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Low-risk inmates helped serve 140 turkeys to a homeless community on Wednesday.
The inmates participated in a Thanksgiving meal orchestrated by Joy Junction, aiming to feed around 1,500 people, according to KOB.
“Secretary of Corrections Greg Mercantel called me a few days ago and said, ‘You know, I have a real desire to help the inmates even more than we have been already … would you be willing to have a few low-risk inmates come down to your dinner to help and serve’ And I think that’s really cool,” said Jeremy Reynalds, CEO and founder of Joy Junction.
