NEW YORK — A correctional facility in New York recently made a large donation to a nearby medical clinic’s PTSD program.
Officers from the Attica Correctional Facility donated $5,000 to the Batavia Veteran’s Affairs Hospital’s Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder program, as reported by Rochester.
“Corrections officers are people just like anyone else. We’re hidden behind the walls and fences of facilities throughout New York state and we’re just trying to get our message out that we’re a good neighbor,” local union president Jason Zolkowski said.
Officers also donated $1,500 worth of food and toys for Christmas.
