TOOELE COUNTY — Holding signs and chanting “No prison”, two dozen people voiced their opposition to the proposed Utah state prison site between Tooele and Grantsville Thursday.
The protestors claimed there are a lot of reasons why the 500 acre site in unincorporated Tooele County is not a good location for the new prison, including proximity to recreationalfacilities . Miller Motorsports Park is located just across the street and the Deseret Peak Sports Complex lies just to the west.
“This spot right here is the crown jewel of our valley,” protest organizer Jewel Allen told ABC4 News. “As you can see it’s a beautiful, beautiful place.”
