Wash. DOC warns of telephone scam

By C1 Staff

WASHINGTON — The Washington Department of Corrections has sent out a warning that someone making phone calls is claiming to be a state DOC employee.

The Olympian reports that the caller is telling others that they have had warrants issued against them by the DOC. The caller then demands $680 from those they call or else that they would then be arrested.

None of those who have been called so far have outstanding warrants. Those who receive such calls should not give out personal information. Instead, please call the DOC at 360-752-8213 or email at correspondenceunit@doc1.wa.gov.
