DANE COUNTY, Wis. — Deputies at the Dane County Jail were able to stop an attempted suicide and saved an inmate’s life.
Madison.com reports that an 18-year-old inmate, whose name has not been released, used a bed sheet to hang himself, but deputies found him and cut him down before permanent damage occurred.
“The inmate received immediate medical attention from on-duty jail nursing staff,” said Lt. Brian Mikula. “The inmate was taken to Meriter Hospital where he was evaluated and cleared to return to jail.”
The inmate is now on suicide watch. He’s been jailed since Oct. 10 on charges from multiple counties.
