NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Davidson County Sheriff’s Office corrections officer was killed Sunday when her husband shot her before taking his own life in their home.

The Tennesseean reported CO Lawanda Steele-Williams, 53, was fatally shot by Kirk Williams, 49, in their kitchen. They had been married for about a year and a half.

Steele-Williams’ daughter called police when she arrived at the couple’s home to find the door locked and heard her mother’s cellphone ringing inside. Officers found the couple dead with gunshot wounds to their heads.
