LEXINGTON, Ky. — A pair of escaped inmates led police on a nearly 50-mile pursuit following a carjacking Sunday in Western Kentucky.

The chase began in Christian County after Elijah Boodoosingh, 30, of Hopkinsville, and James Stull, 39, of Covington, walked away from a work detail outside the Christian County jail, where they were incarcerated. Kentucky State Police said the inmates then carjacked a vehicle at the Family Dollar/ Dollar Tree on South Madisonville Street in Crofton and fled a traffic stop near mile-marker 60 along the Western Kentucky Parkway.

Boodoosingh had been lodged at the Christian County jail since November after pleading guilty on charges of strangulation and intimidating a participant in a legal process, while Stull had been lodged at the jail since April 2025 after pleading guilty to theft and drug charges, according to Kentucky Department of Corrections records.

Both were scheduled to be released next year.

Sunday’s pursuit occurred northbound on the Western Kentucky Parkway through Muhlenberg, Ohio and Grayson counties. Court documents indicate Boodoosingh drove as fast as 120 mph in a 70 mph zone while continuously weaving around traffic.

Police used a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle near mile marker, according to state police. Court documents say Boodoosingh fled on foot and was tased and arrested after he fell into a watery ditch.

Two open containers of alcohol and a small marijuana cigarette were found in the vehicle after the pursuit, according to court documents.

Boodoosingh was charged with second-degree escape, first-degree fleeing or evading in a motor vehicle, speeding 26 mph or greater on a limited access road, reckless driving, first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree fleeing or evading, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, possession of alcohol beverage in a motor vehicle and license to be in possession, according to state police.

Stull, a passenger in the vehicle, was charged with second-degree escape.

Boodoosingh was booked into the Muhlenberg County Detention Center, while Stull was returned to the Christian County jail. KSP said a second passenger was in the vehicle during the pursuit but was not charged.
