GREENVILLE, Ga. — Authorities are searching for two inmates who escaped from the Meriwether County Jail on Tuesday night, Chief Deputy Col. Byron Hadley announced early Wednesday in a press release.
Officials identified the men who escaped their cell blocks around 7:30 p.m. Friday as 34-year-old Eugene Lamar Mitchell and 29-year-old Travion Terrell Hall, both of Greenville. Mitchell was last sighted around 11 p.m. Friday in the Rocky Mount area and has changed out of the orange jump suit and into different clothing while in that vicinity, according to the release.
“We currently have our patrol deputies, K-9 units and investigators, as well as outside resources, searching for these two escapees,” Hadley wrote in an email delivered to the Ledger-Enquirer at 5:31 a.m. Wednesday.
Mitchell, whose last known address is 5363 Rocky Mount Road, is incarcerated on child molestation, aggravated child molestation, incest, aggravated sexual battery, statutory rape and burglary. He is a 5-foot-10 tall black man who weighs 155 pounds, according the release.
Hall, whose last known address is 47 Martin Luther King St., is incarcerated on a probation violation charge. He is a 5-foot-6 tall black man who weighs 160 pounds, according to jail records.
Anyone who sees the inmates are encouraged to call the 911 immediately. Anyone with information concerning their whereabouts can call the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office anonymously at 706-672-4489.
