PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Justice Department has filed a lawsuit against the state of Rhode Island and The Department of Corrections.
The lawsuit alleges the Department of Corrections uses discriminating hiring practices against African-Americans and Hispanic Americans. The suit claims the A.C.I’s testing process is unfair to African Americans and Hispanic Americans.
In December, A.C.I Director A.T. Wall informed lawmakers of the Justice Department’s investigation.
