ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. — A county corrections officer who has set world records for bench pressing is making his third appearance at a weightlifting competition.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department Corrections Officer Thomas “TD” Davis will compete this weekend at the 2018 Arnold Classic-SSP Nutrition Pro Raw Bench competition in Columbus, Ohio. As a Raw competitor, he abstains from using any kind of supplements or equipment except two small wrist guards, according to information from the ECSD.

Davis, 25, who stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs over 400 pounds, has been with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department since July 2014. The South Bend man discovered his love for weight lifting while in high school.

He has broken several bench press records since he started lifting competitively, including lifting close to 628 pounds in 2017 at both the Men’s Raw American Records-Raw Open and the Indiana State Raw Records-Raw Open. His own personal record in 2016 was 622.8 pounds.
