MIAMI — Last week, several corrections officers gathered to donate blood in the parking lot of a correctional facility.
CBS Miami reported that the parking lot at the Turner Guilford Knight Corrections Center turned into a blood donation center.
“Like so many of us, this virus has hit home,” said Miami-Dade Corrections Department Director Daniel Junior. “I think all of us know at least one person who has been impacted by this.”
There are currently 122 Miami-Dade corrections employees and 232 inmates with COVID-19 in isolation or quarantine.
By donating blood, Junior said it can “help treat this virus and help others in our community affected by this virus.”
