Ky. man charged with assaulting correctional officer

Facing charges for assaulting a corrections employee while being searched at the Barren County Detention Center on Sunday

GLASGOW — A Glasgow man is facing charges for assaulting a corrections employee while being searched at the Barren County Detention Center on Sunday.

James Christopher McCandless, 28, of Glasgow had been arrested by Glasgow Police Department Cpl. Jabin McGuire following a report of a man damaging property at a residence on the 200 block of Lee Street in Glasgow. According to the arrest citation, McCandless was given the option of going to his mother’s house, but refused and “began yelling and cursing even louder.”

McCandless was charged with first-degree criminal trespassing and transported to the Barren County jail. According to the citation, once at the jail McCandless kicked Sgt. Cory Jones and had to be subdued by deputies and Sgt. McGuire.

McCandless was charged with third-degree assault, inmate assault on corrections employee.

McCandless was released on Sunday after posting a $1,500 unsecured bond, according to the jail website.

• Brandon Dewayne Crenshaw, 29, of Glasgow was arrested Sunday by GPD Sgt. Jabin McGuire and charged with several offenses.

Crenshaw was charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), no visible injury; possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia – buy/possess. Crenshaw was also had an outstanding warrant from Monroe County for failing to appear in court. He was taken to the Barren County jail.

• Joseph Ervin Miller, 25, of Scottsville was arrested Sunday by GPD Officer B.J. Childress and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc. (.08, aggravated circumstances), second offense.

Miller was taken to the Barren County jail and remained there Monday in lieu of a $1,000 bail credit with cash bond, according to the jail website.

• Matthew Hayden Davis, 23, of Glasgow was arrested Friday night by GPD Officer Nick Houchens.

Davis was charged with operating an ATV on a roadway; second-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle); driving on a suspended or revoked operator’s license; operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc. (.08, aggravated circumstances), first offense, and failure to illuminate head lamps.

Davis was taken to the Barren County jail and released on Saturday after posting a $500 bail credit with cash bond, according to the jail website.

• Cody Wayne Moore, 22, of Woodburn was arrested by GPD Officer Brandon Fletcher on Friday and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, first and second offenses.

Moore was taken to the Barren County jail Friday and released Saturday without bond, according to the jail website.

• Arley Sam Matthews, 26, of Glasgow was arrested by GPD Officer Nick Houchens on an active warrant from Cumberland County.

Matthews was charged with contempt of court libel/slander resistance to order, and taken to the Barren County jail on Sunday. Matthews was released Sunday night after posting a $500 cash bond, according to the jail website.

• Christopher Scott Mosby, 27, of Glasgow was arrested on Sunday by GPD Officer Steven Fields on several outstanding warrants.

Mosby was charged with four counts of contempt of court libel/slander resistance to order and taken to the Barren County jail. He remained there Monday, according to the jail website.

• James Derrick Curry, 37, of Madisonville, Tennessee was arrested Sunday by GPD Officer Nick Houchens on a bench warrant from Warren County.

Curry was charged for failure to appear while already incarcerated at the Barren County jail on alcohol intoxication in a public place, first and second offenses. Curry was released from jail Monday after posting a per commitment bond of $179, according to the jail website.
