BARBOUR COUNTY, Ala. — A prison is on lockdown as officials investigate two separate incidents that left three inmates injured.

DOC spokesman Bob Horton told AL.com that the assaults happened Friday at Easterling Correctional Facility. Corrections officers responded to an inmate fight in the prison yard that left two inmates with stab wounds.

The inmates were transported to the hospital where they were listed in serious condition. Chandler Boone, 24 was charged with first-degree assault with a possible attempted murder charge pending.

Another inmate was stabbed in the prison yard after returning from the evening meal later in the day. The inmate was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Because of an ongoing investigation, officials are not releasing the names of the three suspects.

Investigators believe the incidents are unrelated. The facility remains on lockdown and visitation is canceled.
