CROWN POINT, Ind. — A Lake County Jail inmate escaped Saturday after walking away from a laundry work area.
NWLTimes reported that Richard N. Campos, 22, escaped around noon when he was picked up by a woman in a vehicle. Officials believe the escape was planned.
“We’re following up on every lead,” Lake County Sheriff John Buncich told the publication.
Campos is suspected to be in the East Chicago or Hammond area, where police agencies have already been alerted.
Campos is facing misdemeanor charges of resisting law enforcement and operating while intoxicated.
