GUAM — A corrections officer was stabbed while dispensing medications Thursday.
According to KUAM, the officer had provided inmate Maxen Masaru with a pen to sign off on receiving his medication when the incident occurred.
The inmate reached forward and stabbed the officer in the head with the instrument.
Masaru was changed with aggravated assault on an officer, assault, and disorderly conduct.
The officer was treated for his injury at a local hospital.
Masaru is now being held in the prison’s segregation unit.
