NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Two teachers were injured and an inmate briefly escaped during a riot at a Tennessee youth detention center.
On Monday, Nashville police responded to a call about a riot at the G.T.I. Youth Development Center after two teachers were attacked, the Tennessean reports. Police said 17-year-old Jamie Carter escaped through a “sally port” as other inmates began to riot, according to WSMV.

Carter, who has been convicted of aggravated robbery, was later caught on Monday afternoon. The injured teachers were taken to a hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police said Carter and another inmate were arrested for aggravated assault. The cause of the riot continues to be under investigation
The facility, previously known as the Woodland Hills Youth Development Center, has had problems with riots in the past. In 2014, 32 teenagers overpowered officers and briefly escaped.
