ORANGE, Calif. — A law enforcement official said a “very good lead” led authorities about 9 p.m. Friday to a McDonald’s restaurant in Anaheim, where officers recaptured a 15-year-old boy charged with stabbing his mother to death.

Ike Souzer had escaped from a California juvenile facility earlier Friday.

Orange County sheriff’s Capt. Mike Peters also says Souzer was given medical treatment for puncture wounds on his leg that might have come from his escape.

More than 80 law enforcement personnel searched for Souzer after he escaped from Orange County Juvenile Hall just after midnight Friday. The 6-foot-tall, 200-pound teen somehow got onto a roof and then jumped a perimeter fence.

Souzer had been in the middle of a murder trial in the 2017 stabbing of 48-year-old Barbra Scheuer-Souzer. He was 13 when she was killed.
