Woman avoids jail after attempting to cut off ex-husband’s penis

Former husband feels there is a double standard for male victims of abuse within the criminal justice system

PALM SPRINGS — The former husband of a woman who attempted to cut off his penis feels that his ex-spouse got off lightly when she avoided jail for her actions.

The Mirror reports that Virginia Valdez received three years’ probation and 429 hours of community service for the attack on Cesar Valdez.

The two were going through a divorce at the time of the attack; Mrs. Valdez left the room saying she was going to brush her teeth, but then returned with scissors.

Mr. Valdez attempted to staunch his wounds with towels as he called 911, allegedly telling the dispatcher: “B**** tried to cut my d**k off.”

He feels that the justice system has double standards for male victims of domestic abuse.

“I am here in front of you today to emphasize that male spouses can also be victims of domestic violence, but in some cases, men are afraid to talk for fear of ridicule or for fear of being labeled as some sort of freak or wimp,” he said.

Now that the criminal trial has been settled, the two are now involved in a civil litigation battle.
