Protecting your audio transmitter cord

For those who carry audio transmitters on their duty belts: do you have the problem of external mic cords breaking without warning and causing you to have an evidence tape with no audio? To prevent that, try interweaving the mic cord inside the duty belt under belt keepers, attaching the mic somewhere on the front of your belt and keep some slack on the plug end to enable you to plug into the transmitter. This will lessen the chance of internal mic wire breakage from stress of being bent or pulled. Also, occasionally during your shift, turn up the volume on the camera system and turn on the transmitter. If you get squelch feedback, you know your mic is working.
